The Deadly Gorge - README.TXT

LONG DESCRIPTION: Far to the east in Middle Earth, there is a river that cuts a very deep gorge down into the more lowly regions of earth. The gorge is filled with creatures who will not take kindly to human, or any other Middle Earth race, entering there. Their only desire will be to kill intruders and keep this gorge from being overrun by the likes of such creatures.

SHORT DESCRIPTION (In Game): Beyond Middle Earth's border...far to the east, a gorge cuts through the land, leading to the more lowly regions of earth. Deep in that gorge, death is waiting

TACTICAL SITUATION: You have an encampment above the gorge. Three other encampments are rumored to be occupied on either side of the gorge. There are two paths into the gorge...one direct, and one a little more roundaboput. Both are deadly. There is help and resource to be found, but at great cost.

HINTS:
Be careful how quickly you move out of your camp. You have limited resources to start and no defenses other than the few men available and some ruined towers you might occupy. If you lose them, you would be open to attack.

OBJECTIVES:
Destroy all enemy camps and and creatures who confront you and take possession of the gorge.

INSTALLATION:
Unzip the attached files. They include the following files:

The Deadly Gorge.map - The map itself for LOTR-BFME
The Deadly Gorge.tga - The small description map seen in the game as it loads.
The Deadly Gorge_pic.tga - Im game picture while loading map.
map.str - Contains more detailed Map Info that pops up at the start of the game.
The Deadly Gorge-readme.txt - This file

They will unzip into a directory called "The Deadly Gorge". Once you have placed this directory onto your computer, for example in the "My Documents" folder, you then must copy or move this folder to the proper location before it will work in the game. If you know the proper loaction, then you can unzip it directly there and avoid the next step.

To move or copy the files to their proper place on your system, use Windows Explorer and move or copy the folder to the the "Maps" folder in the "My battle for Middle-earth" folder which is in the "Application Data" folder under the user name you use on the comuter. The "My battle for Middle-earth" folder is located in the following location:

[Main Drive] (Usually C):\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Application Data\

So the full path would look like this on my computer:

C:\Documents and Settings\Jeff Head\Application Data\My Battle for Middle-earth file\Maps\The Deadly Gorge

PLAYING THE MAP:
For Skirmish mode, once the files are in the right place, simply enter SOLO Mode and Skirmish and then pick the User Made Map, "The Deadly Gorge". The map was made for the following set up:

Player 1 - Gondor - You - Upper Left
Player 2 - Any Enemy (Hard) - Upper Right
Player 3 - Any Enemy (Hard) - Lower Right
Player 4 - Any Enemy (Hard) - Lower Left

MULTIPLAYER: This map can be played by up to four players and is meant to have one Gondor player in the upper left position oand up to three other enemy players, or a mix of enemies and allies at the other positions.

CREDITS:
This map was created entirely using the World Builder. There are no ini mods or other special modifications required. The map can be played in either the skirmish or multi-player modes.
